Whitby is traditional maritime town, with old cobbled streets, picturesque houses and a sandy Blue Flag beach, being a great place for a holiday or short breaks. Whitby is set among fine stretches of coast with spectacular cliffs, beaches, bays and is only a few miles from the beautiful North York Moors and is dominated by the cliff top ruins of a beautiful 13th century Abbey.

Situated between the pretty villages of Ruswarp and Sleights in the Esk Valley and not far from the North York Moors National Park, an area of outstanding beauty, these luxury cottages offer a secluded and tranquil retreat for that special holiday.

Sleights is approximately a 10 minute drive from the cobbled streets and alleyways of the ancient seaport of Whitby overlooked by the Abbey ruins, tales of Dracula and a 3 mile stretch of sandy beaches. It offers excellent village shopping including a butcher, baker, convenience, store, post office, tearoom and pubs.

Sleights is only approximately a 45 minute drive to the historic city of York over the moors and is in easy driving distance of a number of attractions to suit all ages.

The neighbouring village of Ruswarp is situated on and at the bottom of a steep winding hill leading down to the River Esk in the valley bottom where the church dedicated to St Bartholomew sits proudly. There are a range of local shops, general store, quality butcher and the local pub.

One of the most historic landmarks is the 120 ft. brick built viaduct which was built to carry the Scarborough to Whitby railway line. It now is part of the Cinder track, a cycling and walking trail.

Other attractions are boating, a miniature steam railway and playZone Park.
